Your level of self-confidence is determined by how ready you are to invest in upgrading yourself. It’s also important to understand your personal challenges that have made you who you are today. We often skip over the things we have achieved and instead of taking the time to celebrate them, remember them and honour them, we move onto the next thing!
Here are 5 Powerful actions to boost your confidence:
Affirm that your best is good enough. Choose an affirmation, quote or even simply a word that reminds you that how something turns out no longer matters. You simply trying is all that you need to do! And that's plenty!
Make a list of qualities you have that make you who you are. If you find it difficult to think about what makes you unique, ask a close friend or few, what they think your biggest qualities are. I may have cried after doing this and reading people's responses!
Reflect on times when you did something hard but still got through it. Take a moment to remember some hard things you have done in life and that you managed to get through. My favourite go to has been "I've survived a war, I can do anything". I know that's extreme, but it literally puts everything in perspective for me personally. And for the record, you don't have to go through a war for this to work! It's al relative, hard is hard, no matter what you've been through.
Set yourself an achievable challenge and take steps towards. Make a goal that's not so far out of reach that you won't even bother trying or you will only set yourself up to fail after day 2 of trying! Think I will go for one walk every week, I will eat one healthy meal a day, I will catch one negative thought each day and turn it around. Small steps leads to big things!
Journal your efforts. Take a moment to reflect on what you are going through, how you are feeling about it and what you are able to overcome. Before you know it you will have a whole book of proof that you can do anything you put your mind to!
Whenever you need a self-esteem boost, pick up your journal and reflect on some of the above entries to feel better.
